Geocaching Geocaching is a high tech version of treasure hunting that is gaining popularity around the world. There are literally millions of caches (hidden "treasures") just waiting to be found. This is an "all ages and ability" appropriate adventure game! How can I geocache? It's simple. All caches (locations) have a satellite coordinate. By loading those coordinates into your hand held GPS unit you simply select your location and follow the instructions on your GPS unit to discover the cache. What are you going to find? At the end of a traditional cache you will find a hidden containe GEOCACHE THE TURTLE MOUNTAINS TODAY! Geocaching lingo: GPS - is a global positioning system, which is a system of satellites that work with a receiver to determine your location on the planet. Cache - is a location with a hidden container, having a log book and possibly other items to trade in it. Virtual Cache - for a virtual cache you are looking for a location rather than a container. There is no log book and nothing to be taken or traded. You are simply looking for a unique location. Multi Cache - contains both traditional caches and virtual caches, leading you to several caches before arriving at your final destination. Travel Bug - is an item that is placed in a cache and has instructions to travel to other caches. These travel bugs make their way around the world! |

A traditional cache may also contain a small tradeable item associated with the theme of the site or area in which it is located. It is expected that if you take an item from the cache that you also leave an item. Write your comments in the log book as it will be of interest to those who will visit after you.
