Rural Municipality of Morton

  • Morton Council is the governing body for the Rural Municipality of Morton with members elected by residents of the Morton Municipality for a four-year term of office. Council deals with matters requiring policy direction, by-laws or by-law amendments, responses or actions to pertinent issues.

    Morton Council consists of one Reeve and six Councillors who represent the municipality's six wards. They meet twice a month at the Boissevain Civic Center at 420 South Railway Street. the following candidates were all elected by acclamation on September 21, 2010 for a four year term.

FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF MORTON AND THE TOWN OF BOISSEVAIN

Prospective municipal election candidates must register with the Senior Election Official (S.E.O.) during the registration period before they may begin to accept contributions, incur expenses, fundraise or borrow money for their campaign.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that I will be receiving candidate registrations:

For the office of head of council: Between May 1st, 2014 and September 16th, 2014

For the office of councillor: Between June 30th, 2014 and September 16th, 2014

at the Rural Municipality of Boissevain - Morton office, 420 South Railway, Boissevain, MB during the regular hours of business.

Additions to the Voters List and/or
Personal Security Protection Requests

MUNICIPALITY OF BOISSEVAIN – MORTON
FORMERLY CONSISTING OF THE RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF MORTON AND THE TOWN OF BOISSEVAIN

The next municipal election for the new combined council of Municipality of Boissevain-Morton is Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

In accordance with Section 36 of The Municipal Councils and School Boards Election Act (MCSBEA), the Municipality of Boissevain - Morton Voters List is open for changes or revisions.

• Any person who is eligible to vote in municipal elections in the Local Authority of Municipality of Boissevain - Morton can have his or her name added to the Voters List, or have any information about the voter on the Voters List corrected.

• Any person can request to have his or her name and address obscured from the Voters List.

A person whose name has been obscured will receive a Personal Security Certificate and identification number. In a civic election, that person may only vote by Sealed Envelope Ballot and cannot vote in person at the regular or advance voting places.

To implement the above, a written request must be submitted to the Senior Election Official, in person, by e-mail, fax or mail to:
